What M1T is
Methyl-1-testosterone is the orally active form of 1-testosterone, a compound first investigated in the 1950s during the busiest years of steroid research and then left on the shelf for decades before reappearing as a grey market product. The book describes it as a kind of bastard amalgamation of three steroids: the 1-ene structure of Primobolan, the oral bioavailability of a methylated tablet like Winstrol, and the receptor binding strength of trenbolone.
Why it is so strong, and why that is a problem
By weight it exceeds every prescription anabolic steroid on the market, with an anabolic rating between 910 and 1,600 against methyltestosterone. That potency comes from being resistant to liver breakdown, which is exactly the trait that makes it one of the harsher orals in the book. The warning is specific: 20 mg of M1T may well stress the liver more than 20 mg of Dianabol, and possibly considerably more at the same dose.
Dry on paper, wet in practice
As a Primobolan derivative it lacks the 4-ene group needed for aromatisation, so on paper it should build lean tissue with no water at all. In practice many users report noticeable water retention even at moderate doses, which points to the moderate progestational activity in this steroid. Progestins can intensify the biological action of estrogen, so stacking M1T with an aromatising compound can produce bloating and gynecomastia more readily than expected. Many users run Nolvadex alongside just to keep the look clean.
The lethargy complaint
M1T taken alone frequently brings lethargy, which the book attributes partly to its low androgenic component. Stacking it with an androgen such as testosterone usually clears the problem quickly, which is why the standard recommendation is 10 mg of M1T with 400 mg of testosterone cypionate a week rather than M1T on its own.
Dosing and the ceiling
The effective range is 5 to 10 mg a day, and 20 mg is the extreme end for a recreational user. Some people go to 40 mg, which is far beyond what is needed. Six to eight weeks is the limit, with liver enzymes monitored during the course and a proper break afterwards.
